Apple Rose Pastry

Elegant, Simple, and Perfect for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is coming soon, and if you're looking for a dessert that feels elegant and special—but still simple to make—these Apple Roses are perfect.

They look fancy (almost like something from a pastry shop), but they're made with just a handful of ingredients: puff pastry, apples, cinnamon sugar, and a little jam for sweetness. No advanced techniques needed — slice, roll, and bake.

They're great for impressing guests, adding something beautiful to your Thanksgiving table, or just treating yourself to a cozy fall dessert. And bonus: they bake beautifully in our HONGBAKE silicone muffin pan, keeping their shape without fuss.

Why use silicone for this recipe?

Perfect shape retention
The flexible silicone cups hold each rose securely while baking, so they come out beautifully formed.

No greasing needed
The natural nonstick surface means you can skip the butter or spray — just pop them out when they're done.

Easy release
Delicate pastries like these can tear in metal pans, but silicone releases them gently and cleanly every time.

🛠️ Tools You'll Need

Hongbake 12 Cup Silicone Muffin Pan with Metal Frame

🌹 Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 2 apples
  • Pinch of salt
  • Warm water
  • 15 g melted butter (optional)
  • 1–2 g cinnamon
  • 10 g sugar

👨🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare apples: Slice apples very thin with peel on. Soak in warm water + salt so they don't brown and become soft (about 5 minutes).
  2. Prepare pastry: Roll out puff pastry and cut into 12 long strips (about 2–3 cm wide).
  3. Assemble: Layer apple slices along the top edge of each strip (slightly sticking out). Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, then fold the pastry bottom up to cover the lower half of the apples.
  4. Roll: Carefully roll each strip into a rose shape, starting from one end.
  5. Place in pan: Place each rose into a muffin cup. (If using silicone, no greasing needed. For metal pans, lightly grease first.)
  6. Bake: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40–45 minutes, until golden and fully baked.
  7. Cool and serve: Let cool slightly before removing from pan. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

💡 Pro tip: Soaking the apple slices in warm water makes them pliable and easy to roll without breaking. And don't skip the cinnamon sugar — it caramelizes beautifully as the roses bake, adding that irresistible sweet-spice flavor.

Happy Thanksgiving baking! 🍎🌹
